John founded Advisor Growth Strategies to do what he loves professionally – help business owners advance their financial advisory firms. Since the inception of AGS, the firm has worked with over 400 firms representing $900+ billon in investable assets.   AGS has been trusted to help with the most important strategic decisions in the lifecycle of advisory firms including structuring new entities, optimizing business management, and M&A transaction advisory. 

John collaborates with the industry’s brightest minds to advance the wealth management profession.   Mr. Furey conceptualized and led aRIA (the Alliance for RIAs), an independent think tank of seven leading independent advisory firms that helped transform M&A in the wealth management industry.

As a recognized thought leader, John has written dozens of research papers and whitepapers. John contributes commentary to many financial publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Investment News, Barron’s, Wealth Management, Financial Planning, Think Advisor, CityWire and Financial Advisor. He also regularly speaks at the major financial conferences in the industry. John was recognized as one of the 25 Most Influential People in Wealth Management (the IA25). John has also been invited to speak and collaborate about the future of the industry with various boards and industry organizations.

On a personal note, John enjoys traveling with his wife Julie and adding to his ever expanding Burgundy wine collection. John also loves playing a round of golf with his two sons. John keeps an eye on various sports in town, especially Arizona State and frequently gives back to schools, church, and various local charities.
